CHEN Hui was born in Hefei, Anhui Province in 1959. He graduated from the Central College of Arts & Design in 1985 and is now professor at the Faculty of Fine Arts at Tsinghua University Academy, where he is also supervisor of doctoral candidates, member of the Academic Committee and director of the Foundation Department. He is researcher at the Wu Guanzhong Art Research Centre and the Zhang Ding Art Research Centre and evaluation expert of the China Postdoctoral Fund. He is also doctoral tutor at the China Academy of Art, a member of the China Artist Association, director of the Beijing Art Higher Education Association, member of the Chinese Painting Committee of the Beijing Artist Association. He was also a judge at the Eleventh National Art Exhibition.
